Personal Finance Books

The Honey Bee

Definitely a lesser known book that reads like a fiction but has lessons in each chapter. It basically helps people think about creating multiple streams of income but in a way that isn’t super aggressive or hammering you over the head about passive methodologies.

Money For Couples

Ramit Sethi’s latest book which I did enjoy and agreed with quite a bit of it. I think it provides some great scripts for how to talk to a partner. There is still some judgements passed it in, but I think most people can look past that and get a solid gameplan sketched for creating reliable money conversations.

The Cash Machine

Another lesser known book that is written like a fiction but interweaves financial concepts in what I felt was easier for people to grasp. While I have mostly offered this to my teenage clients, I have had parents tell me it was great too.

I Will Teach You To Be Rich

Conscious spending plan versus a budget, I think this book does a great job at helping most people utilize a simple system to get their finances in order without harping too much on being obsessed with the minute details. It is definitely easy to consume and still a book I have on my bookshelf and hand out to people to borrow.

Richest Man in Babylon

This is a well known book that you can find a PDF of for free because it was written in the 1920’s and therefore no longer subject to copyright. It is considered a classic that draws lessons of financial advice but written in a way that is easy to consume and again more fiction like than non-fiction but the lessons still hold true today.

Business Owner Finance Books

Don’t Say That

If you do any sort of marketing, I highly recommend this book and even the course. The course includes legal templates for a lot of policies and contracts that are super helpful. Especially the consent disclaimers! I learned a lot about trying to set myself up for success while being completely ethical and legal in how I sell my services or use testimonials

Profit First

A book that challenged a lot of business owners on how they track their money to inform their business decisions. This book teaches doing it in a different order which ensures you stay business expense lean while also having money aside for taxes, yourself, and even profit. Hence the name “profit first”  This methodology is so popular that there are even “profit first” bank set ups and a profit first certification.
